Dear 10th Grade Families,

We are excited to begin planning the annual 10th grade trip to Washington D.C that will take place on May 15-17th. This trip is a great opportunity to see how policy is created around issues you are passionate about. The DC trip is directly tied to students Cycle 4 Literature and History projects, so we want all students to attend. Before the trip students would have created their own non-profit organization about a social justice issue important to them. This trip is designed in order to deepen their understanding of their cycle four topics and to learn how to create policy change. Students will meet with members of Congress and nonprofit organizations in order to do so. Additionally, students will visit museums on the National Mall and Memorial Parks, attend a guided night tour of the national monuments, tour the U.S. Capitol, visit colleges, attend an MLB baseball game, etc. We are currently creating the itinerary, so please let us know any suggestions you have. This trip is a great 10th-grade tradition!

The three-day two-night trip will cost approximately $375.00, and while in DC, your child will need money for three lunches, three dinners, and any souvenirs they would like to purchase. To pay, please bring in a check to the main office made out to “ICE Foundation” OR pay online on the ICE website (iceschoolnyc.org) in the "Student Life 10th Grade Trip” tab. We will begin taking payments on Monday, March 4th. Payments can be made in installments with a check or in installments on the ICE website while the trip should be paid in full (or payment plan begun) by April 1st. As with all trips, ICE is committed to helping all families pay for this amazing trip if they need assistance. We ask that if you are able, you donate an extra $100 or sponsor a child to help us offset the cost for these families and ICE.
