We all know that ICE parents are a talented crew. Auction off that talent at the Spring Fling!
Are you an excellent cook or baker? Offer up a cooking lesson, a homemade birthday cake, or a gourmet dinner party.
Can you knit or sew? Offer up some handcrafted goods, or lessons.
Whatever your hidden (or not so hidden) talent may be, it could make an excellent auction item.
 
Call Your Old College Roommate
Flip through your mental Rolodex for anyone who you might be able to ask for a donation.
Don't be shy! We're sure your friends and far-flung family are all lovely, generous people
who would leap at the chance to support an amazing school like ICE.
Think hard. Dig deep. Like third-cousin-twice-removed deep....

ICE PAC (Parent Action/Education Advocacy Committee)

Middle School Families: Over 80% of eligible 6th-8th graders refused the state ELA tests earlier this month. If your child took the ELA but you have decided to refuse the math (scheduled for May 1 & 2), you can do so via online link in English or Spanish.

All Families: Even if your child is in high school so exempt from state 3-8 testing, even if they're at ICE where we're largely exempt from the Regents, there's the SAT or ACT to consider (or not). A new documentary about standardized testing called “The Test & The Art of Thinking” will screen at Landmark’s 57 West from April 27-May 3. From the film's producer: "Each year more than 3 million high school students in the U.S. take an SAT or ACT college entrance exam. What exactly do these tests measure? How predictive are they of academic promise or success? Parents, students, and academics reflect upon this uniquely American rite of passage, exposing fascinating issues that extend broadly within education. Half Price Film Making Summer Camp for ICE Students

If we have two or more students interested in signing up for this program, they have agreed to half price on tuition. Email Lisa to let her know if your child is interested, and maybe they want to do it with a friend! 

Filmmaking Summer Camp

Enjoy an exciting week of interactive filmmaking experience in a fun-filled, textbook-free environment. This unique summer camp challenges your child to work creatively as individuals as well as in teams.

In one amazing action-packed week, our campers, ages 13-18, will learn to handle professional equipment including lighting, video camera, computer editing program and go through all stages of film production:

  • Creative Screenwriting
  • Directing
  • Cinematography
  • Editing
  • Acting

The camp emphasizes on the encouragement of the children to express themselves and their artistic visions through the process of filmmaking. Guided by industry professionals each step of the way, participants will learn the fundamental skills in filmmaking. Visit the website to learn more.

PTA Meeting & Screening of I'm Not Racist...Am I?

Dear families, unfortunately the facilitator for our upcoming screening, I Am Not A Racist…Am I? has had an emergency and as a result we need to reschedule our event. We will update you as soon as we have a new date for the screening.

Although the documentary screening has been rescheduled the PTA Meeting is still on, please join us on Wednesday, April 25th, 6:00pm in Room 518 to see what we have planned.
