Middle School Families – Opt Out of State Test

If you are thinking of having your child refuse this month’s State Tests (ELA & Math), please let the school know ASAP, preferably by tomorrow, Friday, April 1. **

You can:

6e attached Opt-Out Letter to your child to bring to school.

Or

2. Send an email to Assistant Principal Mark Mazzone mdmazzone@gmail.com. Include your name, your child’s name, grade and advisory teacher or section # (if you know it). Use the subject line: Permission to Opt Out

** You can decide right up until the test day, Tuesday, April 5th but it will be easier for the school to plan if you make your decision known earlier.

PTA Meeting/Parent Workshop

We are delighted to have Kalman A. Chany, nationally recognized college financing expert and author, who will present an overview of financial aid and other college funding options. Because early planning is often the key to reducing college costs and maximizing aid opportunities, this workshop  is suited for parents of all grades.
 
This is an extremely informative presentation that you won't want to miss!

NYC School Surveys deadline is April 1

The deadline for completing your school survey either in hard copy (sent home with child) or online at www.nycschoolsurvey.org is Friday, April 1, 2016.  ICE would like to achieve a goal of 100% completion of Parent Surveys.

The NYC Department of Education regards these surveys as an important tool as feedback from families. A cover letter with complete instructions is provided in each envelope.

If completing survey online at www.nycschoolsurvey.org click on Parent Survey and use the eight digit survey access code that appears on the bottom right-hand corner of the enclosed survey form.

If you cannot locate your survey access code or have misplaced your survey form, please call the survey hotline at 1-800-690-8603.

Parent Action/Education Advocacy

Middle School Parents: The ELA state test is the first week of April. Time to make a decision about opting out (refusing the test) or opting in (taking it). If you want to opt out, please let the school know at your earliest convenience. This will allow staff to plan how many classrooms are needed for the tests, how to assign teachers (whether for regular instruction or for test monitoring).
