Thank you,
Jeffrey and his I.C.E. International Youth Media & Arts Program is looking for someone who'd be willing to volunteer their time to teach the ICE students conversational Malay. The 15 students the volunteer would be working with are preparing for a trip to Malaysia. We need someone who could devote, possibly 7 or 8 "sessions" over a three month span to introduce students to the language and help them learn the basics of Malay.
Odds are, the language sessions would need to happen during the week, in the morning at 7 a.m. (basically a session would run about an hour). However, times and dates could of course be worked with Jeffrey.
The students are very excited over this trip that will essentially be a cultural and educational exchange working in a "forest school" in Malaysia. And while many of the students work with will be speaking some English, learning and then sharing ideas with these students in Malay as well would be very enriching.
Please contact Jeffrey if you or someone you know can help.

Dear ICE Families!
Thank you for attending the Back-2-School Fundraiser last weekend at Pete's Candy Store.
We raised $3,148! A million thanks to our tremendous volunteers and artists that donated to the raffle!
$675 of sales were raised by four Raffle Prizes alone. We are still trying to locate the recipient of one the night's prizes--stringed instrument lessons with Hilary Hawke at Jalopy Jr. in Red Hook. If your name is Paul and you have a 917 number please claim your prize or we will give it to the Runners Up. Email regarding the prize.

SATURDAY OCTOBER 14
This is a great event, perfect for meeting new ICErs, making new friends, catching up with old friends, eating, drinking and listening to great music. And it needs your help to be a success.
Do not hesitate, this is an easy and fun way to put in your volunteer hours!
Please contact Courtney and Lisa if you can fill any of these spots. We will get back to you with the details.
Please view the Comprehensive After School Schedule for the Middle and High School for the Fall Semester. This will be updated throughout the semester as needed. Please have your child attend whatever s/he would like and email the instructor/coach with any questions. This will also be posted on the ICE website in the After School Tab. Enjoy!
Dear ICE Families:
At the most recent PTA meeting, I discussed a proposal to change our Monday dismissal time to 2:09 pm. The parents present at the meeting expressed overwhelming support for this change in a vote, as have the teachers.
Beginning on October 16th this schedule will begin and remain unchanged for the future. This change is made possible by removing one advisory period from the school week. No academic courses are affected.
Thank you all for your input into this decision, and please know that after-school activities will begin at 2:15 on Mondays from now on.
Thank you,
Pete
Want to help in a big way, meet lots of parents at the same time? ICE Merchandise needs you to sell, sell, sell!
Here are the upcoming dates when help is needed at the Merch Table. Pick one or better yet, volunteer for several dates. The times are approximate and flexible - discuss details with Elizabeth.
Please reply to Elizabeth, in charge of Merchandise and cc Lisa, volunteer coordinator.
Dates for selling ICE Merchandise:
If we can gather 5 marathon runners who will commit to running for ICE we can become an official charity partner of New York Road Runners (NYRR)! This would be an amazing opportunity for ICE and could result in a $10,000+ donation to the school. Each runner would be guaranteed a spot in the New York Marathon in exchange for a commitment to raise $2500 (runners pay their own registration fees). After the race, $450 per runner goes to NYRR and the rest goes to ICE so we would earn a minimum of $10,200. Please contact Amy Gropp Forbes if you are interested in participating.
