As ICE has for the past few years, we will be partnering with Revolution Prep to offer our 11th grade students an SAT or ACT course option! The courses are intended to prepare students for either the March School Day SAT or the April ACT (offered during the school day at ICE). The course will begin in late-January. Revolution Prep’s courses are taught online via video by a dedicated instructor, who works with the small cohort of students in the class. Students are encouraged to be in-person at ICE while taking the course.

As you pick a test prep plan, keep in mind that for the current 12th graders (Class of 2024) a vast majority of colleges were test optional, meaning that SAT or ACT scores are not required for admissions. For the Class of 2025, not all colleges have made announcements about their plans, but it is likely that many colleges will stay test optional, while some may return to requiring scores; most colleges, as well, do not require test scores for scholarship. Students and families should review the list of test optional colleges and current policies (available at FairTest.org), as well as the student’s strengths and personal goals, in deciding on how they want to proceed.

Features of the ICE SAT or ACT Class:

  • Course Instruction: Students attend class virtually (via computer) with a live instructor from Revolution Prep. While the classes are taught live, the instructor will be on Zoom.

  • Practice Exams: Students will have 3 mandatory practice exams as part of the course.

  • Courses: Students must choose between a prep course for the SAT or ACT exam. Students will take a diagnostic to help determine course selection.

  • Timing: Prep course will begin late January, in readiness for the mid-March school day SAT or the early April school day ACT; the course will be a total of 24 hrs of instruction.

  • Course Time: Both sections will run after school at ICE Mon/Wed 2:30 - 4:00 PM.

  • Location: While the course is taken remotely, students are expected to stay after school to attend the live course at ICE.

  • Cost: The course will be $450 / student (normally courses cost around $600 or more). That being said, our goal is to make this class accessible to everyone. If you need assistance covering the cost of the class, there will be tiered options. Payment can be paid via PayPal or check made out to “ICE Foundation”, with “SAT/ACT Prep” in the line. The total cost can be made in multiple payments. Information on payment amounts and plans available on the ICE website.

  • Available Spaces: We are targeting groups of 10-15 students per a course section. This course is especially intended for families or students that may not have access to test prep outside of ICE. Please see below a range of alternative test prep options. Students should only sign up if they are fully able to commit to attend each class fully & for the entire course.

  • Practice Tests & Picking a Test: Students who are interested in taking the class must take at least 1 diagnostic exam. Students are encouraged to take a diagnostic of both exams - SAT and ACT - to determine the exam of their choice. In order to take the diagnostic exams, the student/family must email Molly (molly@iceeducate.org) with the full name of the student and their intent to take the course.

    • SAT - Diagnostic Date - Sat, Dec 16th (Live proctored - taken online, at home)

    • ACT - Diagnostic Date - Sat, Jan 6th (Live proctored - taken online, at home)

  • Official Registration: Official registration of students will happen after they take the practice test(s). At this point, they will select either the SAT or ACT section. The registration form will be sent out after the exams are complete; it class will close on January 12th.

Please direct questions about the course & logistics to  programsupport@revolutionprep.com
